FAQs
Is the pool heated?
Yes! The pool is heated and enclosed.
How often should a swimmer attend swimming lessons?
Lessons may be booked either once or twice per week. We do encourage our students to attend lessons twice a week as their progression is strongly influenced by the frequency of their lessons.
What should a swimmer wear?
Swimmers should wear a well-fitting, streamlined swimsuit—ideally a one-piece or Speedo-style for ease of movement in the water. We kindly ask that swimmers avoid baggy shorts or string-style bikinis, as these can restrict movement. A swimming cap is required. Please also bring a towel for drying off after the lesson.
For younger swimmers who are not fully toilet trained, a properly fitted swimming nappy is essential to ensure hygiene in the pool.
Will I get into the pool with my child during Learn-to-Swim lessons?
No, parents do not need to enter the pool for our Learn-to-Swim program for children aged 2 years and up. Our experienced instructors work hands-on with each child, gently building trust while teaching essential water safety and independence skills. Your child will be supported every step of the way as they gain confidence and learn to swim in a safe, nurturing environment.
What if my child cries or performs?
This is a common part of the learning process, especially in the beginning. Our experienced teachers are trained to handle these situations with care and patience.
To help your child build trust with their instructor, we recommend parents avoid getting involved during the lesson and step out of sight if needed. This allows the teacher to connect and guide your child without distraction.
With time, encouragement, and consistency, your child will settle in and begin to enjoy their lessons.
How long will it take for my child to learn to swim?
Every child is unique, and their progress in the water will vary. Some children take to swimming quickly, while others may need more time, and that’s completely normal. With regular attendance, patience, and positive reinforcement, your child will continue to build skills, confidence, and safety in the water at their own pace.
What time should I get there?
Please get here 5 minutes before the start of your child’s lesson. Please ensure your child is dressed and ready for the start of the class so that the instructor can fully utilize your child’s allocated time slot.
If you arrive late for the lesson, the teacher will take your child for the remainder of your child’s session.
How much will lessons cost?
Please contact Laughing Waters Swim School for the most up-to-date costs.
How does payment of fees work?
Fees are payable in advance on a monthly basis.
If a pupil starts in the middle of the month, you will pay pro-rata, from your 1st lesson, until the end of the month.
What happens if one of our lessons falls on a public holiday?
We are closed on public holidays. All fees are calculated individually, based on the day your child swims. So, if one of the lessons falls on a public holiday, the lesson will NOT be included in the fees.
What happens if I miss a lesson?
Lessons that are missed or cancelled are considered forfeited.
However, we understand that children may occasionally miss lessons due to illness or unexpected commitments. However, as our swim school operates on a tightly scheduled program, and our instructors commit their time and expertise to every session, lesson fees remain payable for all missed classes.
Please notify us as early as possible if your child will be absent. Early notice increases the chance of us being able to offer a make-up lesson, depending on availability.
Why do you recommend year long swimming?
Consistent, year-round swimming lessons are the key to steady progress and long-term skill retention. When children swim continuously throughout the year, they maintain and build on their skills more effectively.
How do we go about terminating lessons?
We require a full calendar months’ notice in writing when terminating your swimming lessons.
